Mercy HouseMercy House is a non-profit organization founded in 1988 by Father Jerome T. Karcher. In the last 12 months, Mercy House has helped nearly 600 individuals remain in their homes, served nearly 2,000 people at access centers, aided more than 3,600 in emergency shelter programs, transitioned more than 190 people out of temporary shelters, and facilitated permanent housing for over 400. The Himalayan Institute (http://www.himalayaninstitute.org) is a leader in the field of meditation, spirituality, yoga and holistic health. Its goal is to serve the global community by providing humanitarian, spiritual, educational and medical programs that unify Eastern and Western spirituality, wisdom, technology and science.

In addition to the Vida Project, the Himalayan Institute sponsors numerous global outreach and educational programs designed to provided impoverished regions with the skills and tools they need to become economically independent, educated and healthy members of the global community. Some of the endeavors include vocational training schools and public libraries in Africa, support for schools in impoverished communities in India and large scale tree planting to combat global warming.
