Love in the Mirror and its founder Jonas Corona are grateful to No More Poverty and the Smart & Final Charitable Foundation who worked together to benefit the Children Today organization.

Love in the Mirror would like to thank No More Poverty and its co-founders Julian Omidi and Michael Omidi, M.D. for initiating grants that donated new shoes for more than 50 kids at the Children Today organization. The Smart & Final Charitable Foundation partnered with No More Poverty in this effort with a matching grant.

“It’s very sad that some kids don’t have food, clothes, toys and can’t even go to school. I want to help them so they can feel happy for themselves,” says Jonas Corona, founder of Love in the Mirror. “Thank you No More Poverty and Smart & Final for helping the kids at Children Today with the new shoes. Helping kids makes me feel happy and that is why I started Love in the Mirror.”

“Shoes are something most of us don’t think much about. Some people have multiple pairs in their closet,” says Dora Jacildo, Executive Director of Children Today. “That is definitely not the case for the children we serve. These 50 pairs of shoes were met with tremendous joy and thoughtfulness. This donation is very much appreciated.”

No More Poverty (nmp.org) is a not-for-profit charity organization (with a pending 501(c)3 application) founded by brothers Michael Omidi, M.D. and Julian Omidi. The organization seeks to end poverty at home and abroad by supporting the efforts of like-minded charities and agencies. Current efforts are focused on increasing awareness of and donations to charities already doing great work to address poverty and its staggering effects throughout the world. The plan is to expand our activities to include fostering business development and job creation in disenfranchised areas. Suggestions for worthy partners in the fight for No More Poverty are welcome. No More Poverty does not accept monetary support but instead encourages direct donations to the charities featured on the organization’s website. Smart & Final (http://www.smartandfinal.com/AboutUs/SponsorshipAndDonations.aspx) is a restaurant warehouse store where service industry professionals as well as households find high quality food service supplies at lower-than-retail prices. It employs more than 6,000 people and operates 250 stores throughout the western United States. The Smart & Final Charitable Foundation gives back to the communities it serves by supporting an array of charities and important causes.

Children Today (http://www.childrentoday.org) was founded by working mothers Theresa Bixby and Jennifer Fitzgerald- after they saw an infant wandering along a street in Long Beach, California with no parent in sight. The organization advocates for the needs of children in a system that typically sees homelessness as an adult problem. The goal of Children Today is simple – to increase the safety, stability and confidence of children facing homelessness and provide quality early care and education programs absolutely free of charge.

Love in the Mirror (http://www.loveinthemirror.org) was the brainchild of Jonas Corona a six-year-old who, after helping his mother and his aunt give out food and clothing to the homeless, wanted to start an organization to help homeless children. He was inspired to begin his foundation after he discovered that there weren’t any kids’ clothes at the shelter where he was volunteering. Love in the Mirror helps to provide food, clothing and school supplies to homeless kids and also offers programs that offer supplementary education and tutoring for kids, as well as workshops designed to help children achieve future professional and personal success.
