Friends Helping Friends LA, the Los Angeles-based homeless aid organization, offers its thanks to the Omidi brothers and No More Poverty for their sponsorship.
Friends Helping Friends LA has thanked No More Poverty co-founders Julian Omidi and Dr. Michael Omidi for their help. Friends Helping Friends LA provides transitional housing and access to mental health resources and drug and alcohol rehabilitation services for the Los Angeles homeless population.
“At Friends Helping Friends, we believe that the only way to truly break the cycle of homelessness is to give people hope of a better tomorrow,” says Jonathan Jones, founder of Friends Helping Friends LA. “In our current economy, government resources are being squeezed tight and that makes No More Poverty’s help even more valuable and appreciated. We’d like to thank No More Poverty and the Omidi brothers for helping us transform the lives of so many homeless back to productive, independent members of our communities.”
While most homeless shelters offer individual cots, Friends Helping Friends LA gives its residents fully furnished living spaces complete with kitchens, telephone and internet service and cable television. Additionally, clients receive medical consultations onsite and access to substance abuse treatment facilities. Residents receive the opportunity to work towards their independence in a safe, family-like environment.
Friends Helping Friends LA (http://www.friendshelpingfriendsla.org) offers its services to homeless men and women over the age of 18 regardless of sexual orientation or HIV status. The organization anticipates opening a veterans’ house for homeless service men and women suffering from PTSD, as well as veterans recently returned from combat who are unable to adjust to living with their families.
No More Poverty (http://www.nmp.org) is a not-for-profit charity organization (with a pending 501(c)3 application) founded by brothers Dr. Michael Omidi and Julian Omidi. The organization seeks to end poverty at home and abroad by supporting the efforts of like-minded charities and agencies. Current efforts are focused on increasing awareness of and donations to charities already doing great work to address poverty and its staggering effects throughout the world. The plan is to expand our activities to include fostering business development and job creation in disenfranchised areas.
