The global micro-finance activities of Whole Planet Foundation® are boosted by the support of No More Poverty and co-founders Julian Omidi, and Dr. Michael Omidi. Whole Planet Foundation empowers impoverished micro-entrepreneurs around the globe with an opportunity to lift themselves out of extreme poverty.

Whole Planet Foundation appreciates Dr. Michael Omidi and Julian Omidi, co-founders of No More Poverty for their generous $1,000 contribution. Whole Planet Foundation, a Whole Foods Market® non-profit, is dedicated to empowering the very poor to change their own lives.

“Our mission is to alleviate poverty around the globe where Whole Foods Market sources products” says Joy Stoddard, Whole Planet Foundation Development and Outreach Director. “We are grateful to the Omidi brothers and No More Poverty for their support which gives a hand up to people living in these communities so they can start their own businesses and have the chance to lift themselves and their families out of poverty over time.”

Whole Foods Market established the foundation in partnership with 2006 Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus. Professor Yunus is the champion of the concept of microcredit as a financial building block for poor communities. Microcredit is the practice of providing the very poor with small loans – usually less than $300, requiring no contract or collateral – in order to spark a stable economic environment for themselves and their community.

Whole Planet Foundation (http://www.wholeplanetfoundation.org/) offers grants to microfinance partners in the United States and 56 other countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia. These pro-poor organizations then provide microlending services to local entrepreneurs to assist them with their goal of establishing independent business ventures to generate income. The money is reloaned and repaid again and again and then used to finance other businesses, helping the community to eventually develop a self-sustaining economic system. For more information on Whole Planet Foundation or to make a donation, please visit their website or Facebook page. One hundred percent of donations benefit impoverished microentrepreneurs because Whole Foods Market covers all operating costs of the foundation.

No More Poverty (http://www.nmp.org) is a not-for-profit charity organization (with a pending 501(c)3 application) founded by brothers Dr. Michael Omidi and Julian Omidi. The organization seeks to end poverty at home and abroad by supporting the efforts of like-minded charities and agencies. Current efforts are focused on increasing awareness of and donations to charities already doing great work to address poverty and its staggering effects throughout the world. The plan is to expand our activities to include fostering business development and job creation in disenfranchised areas.
