A Zumba charity event – led by Deekee Gaerlan and held in Glendale on June 8, 2013 – will benefit the CES7 organization, helping to sponsor a medical aid trip to the Philippines. No More Poverty and its co-founders Julian Omidi and Dr. Michael Omidi are co-sponsors of the life-saving mission to provide free medical care to the Filipino people.
An all-around feel good event, the June 8, 2013 Zumba charity dance-party provides an opportunity for people to increase their fitness level, have a great beat-thumping time, and help their fellow-man. Event proceeds will support a medical mission, co-sponsored by No More Poverty and CES7, which will provide much needed medical services to many poor Filipino people suffering with disease and deformities.
“For me, one of last year’s most rewarding experiences was leading a medical team to Calumpit, Philippines where we were able to perform over 40 major surgeries in about 10 days. The free procedures we provided in conjunction with CES7 included the removal of large cancerous growths, hernia repair, and plastic surgeries to fix debilitating face and neck deformities,” says Dr. Michael Omidi, co-founder of No More Poverty. “I promised I would return to continue to provide medical care; the need is great and the opportunity to help is a rewarding gift. I appreciate our partnership with CES7 and thank DeeKee for his commitment to this event in support of our efforts.”
The Zumba charity event will be led by Deekee Gaerlan along with several special guest instructors and will feature music by DJ Joopz. Co-sponsored by No More Poverty and CES7, the event is scheduled for June 8, 2013, with a 1:30 registration time followed by the exhilarating dance-party from 2-4 pm. It will be held at the Pacific Community Center, at 501 South Pacific Avenue, Glendale, CA 91204. The suggested donation is $15 minimum and participants are asked to wear red and blue. Proceeds will help to fund a July medical mission to the Philippines led by Dr. Michael Omidi.
Most of the 94 million people living in the Philippines have limited access to and cannot afford to pay for medical treatment. This Youtube video link provides a summary of last year’s medical mission and will help viewers to better understand the urgent medical needs of Filipino people.
