The Portland Hoop Kings thank No More Poverty and Michael Omidi and Julian Omidi for their support.
Portland Hoop KingsPortland, Oregon – The Portland Hoops Kings, thanked No More Poverty (nmp.org) and its founding brothers, Michael Omidi, MD and Julian Omidi, for the support extended to their inner city youth basketball program.
“We are very grateful for No More Poverty’s support of our program,” according to Monica Porter speaking on behalf of the Portland Hoops Kings. “Our student/athletes along with PHK volunteer coaches and staff are encouraged that there are people like the Omidi brothers out there, willing to lend a helping hand to young men trying to make their way in the world under difficult circumstances.”
“The success of the Hoop Kings is two-fold: they are competitive on the court while also learning important life-lessons that will help them to flourish as they enter adulthood,” says Julian Omidi, co-founder of No More Poverty. “It’s a tremendous training program for young men and we are delighted to help fund their future victories, both on and off the court.”

The organization seeks to end poverty at home and abroad by supporting the efforts of like-minded charities and agencies. ABOUT THE PORTLAND HOOP KINGS:
Founded in 2003, the Portland Hoop Kings (hoopkings.tripod.com/) is an inner city youth basketball program that uses competitive athletics as a motivational vehicle to prepare boys, 10 to 17 years old, for the ultimate game of life. Through PHK programs, offered in conjunction with the Inner City Players Athletics Program, student/athletes learn life-long lessons, build character, work within a team structure, maximize educational opportunities, and are exposed to various cultures. The program’s student/players have a 95% high school completion rate with 90% of those moving on to high education opportunities. They are also extremely competitive, three PHK teams hold Oregon State Championship titles and two of the teams played in the 2011 national tournament.
