No More Poverty reports on the many successes of a recent Philippines Medical Mission, co-sponsored by CES7 organization. Healthcare is not readily available to the country’s millions of disadvantaged people and a return trip is planned for 2013.
Dr. Michael Omidi and his brother Julian Omidi, co-founders of the non-profit charity No More Poverty, are thrilled that many lives were saved and/or vastly improved by the free medical procedures provided as a part of a December mission of mercy to the city of Calumpit just north of Manila in the Philippines. Mission participants, co-sponsored by Charitable Endowment Support and the local government of the Bulacan province, included a medical team of seven led by Dr. Michael Omidi. In the course of several days, the team was able to complete 36 major surgeries to remove large growths related to breast and thyroid cancer, repair hernias, and fix debilitating face and neck deformities.
“This medical mission was an awesome opportunity to save lives and make a true difference in the quality of life for many more,” says Julian Omidi, co-founder of No More Poverty. “The team felt blessed to be able to give these deserving people a second chance at happy and fulfilled lives. Still, the need is tremendous and we are thrilled to partner with CES7 on another trip later this year.”
Most of the 94 million people living in the Philippines have limited access to and can’t afford to pay for medical treatment. Tragically, many of those suffering with cancerous growths find themselves with no options and are relegated to suffer in silence as they wait to die. Many others suffer daily, missing many of life’s joys and opportunities, due to deformities that ostracize them from society. No More Poverty and CES7 are currently organizing a return trip to the Philippines to help relieve those in pain and anguish. Monetary contributions and donations of medical supplies and equipment are needed and much appreciated. Medical professionals are also needed to join Dr. Omidi on this medical mission of mercy.
