No More Poverty and co-founders Michael Omidi and Julian Omidi are sponsors of the October 9th Welcome Home Celebration, in support of Upward Bound House and its work to aid homelessness.

Los Angeles, California – No More Poverty and its co-founders Michael Omidi, MD and Julian Omidi will help sponsor Upward Bound House’s Annual Welcome Home Celebration. For more than 20 years, Upward Bound House has worked to eliminate homelessness among families with children in the greater Los Angeles area. The Welcome Home Celebrationwill be held October 9, 2012 at the Sony Studios in Culver City. This popular fund-raising event includes live entertainment, a silent auction, “tastes” of popular dishes from dozens of Los Angeles’ top restaurants, and a specially prepared dinner by Wolfgang Puck.

“Last year, the floundering economy and our area’s high cost of living nearly doubled the number of unsheltered, homeless families in and around Los Angeles,” according to Michael Omidi, MD, co-founder of No More Poverty. “Upward Bound House is a huge help to families, particularly those with young children. The Welcome Home Celebration is a terrific fund-raising and awareness building event, and it’s a lot of fun. As a proud sponsor, No More Poverty is glad to help address and hopefully alleviate homelessness.”

Upward Bound House (upwardboundhouse.org) provides community-based housing placement and support services to families and low-income seniors. Founded in 1991, the non-profit agency offers an array of services that give families the tools needed to achieve self-sufficiency, including parenting classes and financial training combined with intensive case management. In 2011, Upward Bound House served more than 120 families with an astonishing 95% retaining their new homes for at least six months after graduation from its program.
