Michael Omidi, M.D. and Julian Omidi, through their charity No More Poverty, enthusiastically support new vocational training and college prep programs of ABC Learn, Inc.

ABC Learn, Inc. provides much more than the basic ABCs, which is why No More Poverty and its co-founders Michael Omidi, MD and Julian Omidi are happy to support the Los Angeles-based education organization. For more than 15 years, ABC Learn has provided children’s tutoring programs, youth job search and life skills, and English as a Second Language courses for adults. Working with community and local government, the organization focuses on building academic and communication skills thereby increasing the self-esteem of students, enabling them to lead successful lives personally and professionally.

“The variety of programming offered by ABC Learn is quite impressive and my brother and I are excited to lend them our support,” says Julian Omidi co-founder of No More Poverty. “The really exciting part though is the impact they are making in both in the local community and in the lives of students and participants. They are always adjusting their offerings to appeal to today’s youth, recent additions include computer training and a music video program. Donations of computer hardware and software are current needs. Please contact the organization directly with offers of help.”

The San Fernando Valley Youthbuild Charter School, a new division of ABC Learn, works with young people 16-24 to provide vocational training along with college prep courses. In addition the charter school enables the students to obtain a diploma from a WASC approved school. English as a Second Language courses for adults has been a part of their programs, and ABC Learn was one of the first state approved provider of No Child Left Behind tutoring services for qualifying students. ABC Learn, Inc. has been working with youth since 1996 and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation with its tax exemption in education and cultural awareness.

The mission of ABC Learn (http://www.abclearn.org) is to have a positive effect on society as a whole by helping individuals to be literate, productive members of society. The organization believes it is important that people recognize their value as members of the whole and are empowered to achieve their individual goals in a manner beneficial to all. ABC Learn works in collaboration with community organizations, both for profit and non-profit, to provide educational opportunities for thousands of youth across Los Angeles County. Children’s education programs are focused on promoting literacy, creativity and a love for learning with topical lessons in language arts, math, music and art.
