Michael Omidi and Julian Omidi, co-founders of the charity No More Poverty are excited to work in conjunction with the Smart & Final Charitable Foundation and Love in the Mirror to benefit homeless youth at Children Today.
Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) March 28, 2013
No More Poverty united with the Smart & Final Charitable Foundation to provide a grant to the non-profit organization Love in the Mirror. With this generous grant, Love in the Mirror donated new shoes to more than 50 homeless kids being helped by Children Today.
“We jumped at the opportunity to work with Love in the Mirror again. Its founder, Jonas Corona is an enterprising young man who has the biggest heart,” according to Michael Omidi, M.D., co-founder of No More Poverty. And we hope to continue to work with The Smart & Final Charitable Foundation in the future as we all partner around our common desire to help those in need.”
“Shoes are something most of us don’t think much about. Some people have multiple pairs in their closet,” says Dora Jacildo, Executive Director of Children Today. “That is definitely not the case with our kids. These 50 pairs of shoes were met with tremendous joy and thoughtfulness. This donation is very much appreciated.”
Smart & Final (http://www.smartandfinal.com/AboutUs/SponsorshipAndDonations.aspx) is a restaurant warehouse store where service industry professionals as well as households find high quality food service supplies at lower-than-retail prices. It employs more than 6,000 people and operates 250 stores throughout the western United States. The Smart & Final Charitable Foundation gives back to the communities it serves by supporting an array of charities and important causes.
Love in the Mirror (http://www.loveinthemirror.org) helps homeless children obtain not only the food, clothing and school supplies they need in everyday life, but also provides programs to empower children to succeed in their future endeavors, and hopefully make a difference in this world. It was founded by Jonas Corona when he was just six years old, after spending afternoons with his mother and aunt helping out at a local homeless shelter.
Children Today (http://www.childrentoday.org) was founded by working mothers Theresa Bixby and Jennifer Fitzgerald after they saw an infant wandering along a street in Long Beach, California with no parent in sight. The organization advocates for the needs of children in a system that typically sees homelessness as an adult problem. The goal of Children Today is simple – to increase the safety, stability and confidence of children facing homelessness and provide quality early care and education programs absolutely free of charge.
