No More Poverty and cofounders Julian Omidi and Dr. Michael Omidi are pleased support Simone’s Kids and their fundraising campaign a Classroom for Christmas, which will finish and furnish a school building for young orphans in Uganda.
No More Poverty and its cofounders the Omidi brothers are asking for others to join them in helping Simone’s Kids complete a much needed school for orphans in Uganda. This is the goal of the Classroom for Christmas campaign. Land for the school has been purchased (done in 2011) and the construction started (accomplished by the 2012 campaign). Now is the time to finish this project and provide this under privileged community and its orphans with the education that could make all the difference in their lives.
“Simone’s Kids is a great organization founded by a very compassionate and enterprising young woman. No More Poverty has supported their endeavors for more than a year and we are delighted to contribute again to this very worthy cause and its holiday campaign – a Classroom for Christmas,” says Dr. Michael Omidi, cofounder of No More Poverty. “Imagine children in the U.S. wanting an education so badly that they would come every day, sit on the floor and complete their lessons without textbooks. Let’s work together this Christmas season to finish this school and get these children desks to sit in and books to read.”
The goal for this year’s Classroom for Christmas is to finish and furnish God’s Hope Primary School in the Ugandan town of Nakaske. Two classrooms are complete and the foundation is laid for the remaining eight classrooms. Groups and individuals are encouraged to host fundraising events or simply promote the campaign to friends and family. Cash donations will be used to purchase building supplies and furniture. Simone’s Kids is also appreciative of donated school supplies, books, blankets, shoes, silverware, plastic bowls and plates, and playground and sports equipment to be used by the students. Simone’s Kids (http://www.simoneskids.com) was founded in 2010 by then 20-year-old Simone Plimpton who was moved by the poverty and devastation faced by the Ugandan people. Uganda is one of the poorest countries in Africa with more than 35% of the population living below the poverty line.
No More Poverty (http://www.nmp.org) is a not-for-profit charity organization (with a pending 501(c)3 application) founded by brothers Dr. Michael Omidi and Julian Omidi. The organization seeks to end poverty at home and abroad by supporting the efforts of like-minded charities and agencies. Current efforts are focused on increasing awareness of and donations to charities already doing great work to address poverty and its staggering effects throughout the world. The plan is to expand our activities to include fostering business development and job creation in disenfranchised areas.
