The Omidi brothers and their nonprofit organization No More Poverty are the new sponsors of Friends Helping Friends LA, a charity that provides shelter, substance abuse rehabilitation, and crisis intervention to the Los Angeles homeless population.

No More Poverty and co-founders Dr. Michael Omidi and Julian Omidi are new supporters of Friends Helping Friends LA which offers a safe and sober living environment, as well as mental and physical health services, to the homeless.

“Los Angeles has one of the largest, most dire populations of homeless people in the United States, and there simply aren’t enough secure sheltering facilities to accommodate them all,” says Julian Omidi, co-founder of No More Poverty. “Friends Helping Friends LA offers a series of important services designed to help chronically homeless people to recover and lead healthy, independent lives. No More Poverty is honored to help this great organization serve the community.”

Friends Helping Friends LA (http://www.friendshelpingfriendsla.org) was founded in 1997 by Jonathan L. Jones as a comprehensive solution to homelessness. Rather than offering shelter services with cots and anonymous communal living, Friends Helping Friends LA provides individual houses with full amenities so that the inhabitants can cook their own food and live in a family-like environment. By giving the inhabitants support and a comfortable space, Friends Helping Friends LA provides a foundation for successful substance abuse recovery and mental health counseling. Plans are in the works to open a facility for homeless veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and other combat-related emotional disorders that render them unable to function in civilian society.

No More Poverty (http://www.nmp.org) is a not-for-profit charity organization (with a pending 501(c)3 application) founded by brothers Dr. Michael Omidi and Julian Omidi. The organization seeks to end poverty at home and abroad by supporting the efforts of like-minded charities and agencies. Current efforts are focused on increasing awareness of and donations to charities already doing great work to address poverty and its staggering effects throughout the world. The plan is to expand our activities to include fostering business development and job creation in disenfranchised areas.
