No More Poverty and co-founders, Dr. Omidi and Julian Omidi, support the Foundation for Second Chances, a community-based organization that works to maximize the opportunities for Los Angeles based youth in need.

Foundation of Second ChancesNo More Poverty and its co-founders, the Omidi Brothers, support the Foundation of Second Chances. The community-based organization offers educational, health, and training services to disadvantaged youth in Southern Los Angeles. Through a network of 300+ volunteers – many of which are local businesses, community and government leaders – Second Chances serves more than 150 kids each day at an average of 1,500 kids per year.

“The children and young people of South Los Angeles must confront tremendous needs and disappointments every day,” says Dr. Omidi, co-founder of No More Poverty. “The aid and hope provided by Second Chances and Melissa Wyatt are desperately needed and appreciated and No More Poverty is delighted to support their efforts.”

The mission of the Foundation for Second Chances, Inc. (ffscinc.org) is to utilize hands-on education, mentoring, health awareness, and community services to maximize the potential of youth. The organization works to provide children with basic necessities such as a quality education, the chance to flourish in a safe and nurturing environment, an opportunity to build self-confidence and self-esteem, and the ability to achieve. The community-based organization was founded in 2004 by Melissa Wyatt who was inspired and motivated by a young girl she met at a treatment center. The girl wasn’t doing well in school and was discouraged that she didn’t have the right school supplies. Wyatt went shopping with her own money and bought the girl school supplies and clothes. The girl quickly turned things around and started getting good grades. When Wyatt asked her what happened, the girl said that “you believed in me, so I thought it was possible to believe in myself”. Wyatt knew then that she wanted to start an organization to help children and young people turn their lives around. Wyatt hopes to expand Second Chances’ reach throughout the United States and around the globe.
