Non-profit organization, The Raining Season is grateful to No More Poverty and co-founders, Michael Omidi and Julian Omidi for their support of the charity’s humanitarian work in Sierra Leone.

The Raining Season appreciates the support of No More Poverty and co-founders Michael Omidi, MD and Julian Omidi. The charity operates a children’s orphanage in Sierra Leone that provides safe harbor, regular meals, high quality health care, and education programs for more than 90 local children. Additionally, the Raining Season facilitates a high-touch and personal sponsorship program between American donors and the children as well as multiple humanitarian trips to West Africa everyyear.

“We found the orphans of Sierra Leone to be voiceless, vulnerable, trafficked, neglected and in desperate need of hope and help. Rescuing exploited children is messy. It is hard work and the journey is dark,” says Tina Schmidt, Executive Director, of the Raining Season. “We however are richly blessed to have been given more than 125 acres in the capital city of Freetown to care for and love these forgotten little ones. Thank you, No More Poverty for your help which enables us to continue this life-savingwork.”

About The Raining Season
The Raining Season (therainingseason.org) provides a unique sponsorship opportunity centered on facilitating a personal relationship between sponsor and child. The goal is to promote a relationship that builds life-long bonds of trust so that both participants experience the joy that comes from truly changing the life of another. The organization was founded in 2008 by Jason Rust and his wife Erica Stone following their successful adoption of their daughter Jayda from Sierra Leone. This experience opened their eyes to the devastating conditions suffered by the people of this West African country following a brutal civilwar.

The Raining Season operates a fully-staffed care center in Freetown, Sierra Leone called the Covering. More than 90 orphans live there 24/7 and receive loving care, safety and protection — all in a family atmosphere. Donors receive regular communication from their sponsored child, including letters, photos, school updates, artwork, and a monthly Skype visit for real, personal interaction. The organization also coordinates several humanitarian trips to Sierra Leone every year. Look to their website for dates, scheduled activities and an opportunity to sign-up.
