Charitable Endowment Support (CES7), in association with No More Poverty and its cofounders Dr. Michael Omidi and Julian Omidi, happily report that a second successful Philippines Medical Mission was completed in July 2013. The two charities are also pleased to announce a new medical mission program called Operations for Hope and the planning of another medical trip back to the Philippines in December 2013.
Charitable Endowment Support (CES7) is thrilled that a recent medical mission to the Philippine town of San Miguel was able to save and/or vastly improve the lives of dozens of people in need of medical and surgical care. July’s medical mission, cosponsored by No More Poverty and the local government of the Bulacan province, brought healing to 31 Filipino people through surgeries to remove large growths from breast and thyroid cancer, repair hernias and repair debilitating face and neck deformities.
“The CES7 team is truly blessed to have been a part of such a successful humanitarian endeavor that brought healing to many people in need,” says David Mohr, President of CES7. “Our partnership with No More Poverty and the Omidi family is extraordinary and I marvel at our ability to work together with synchronous missions to help improve, and sometimes save, the lives of others.”
Moved by the heartbreaking needs of the disadvantaged in the Philippines and around the globe, No More Poverty and CES7 have formed a new charitable program called Operations for Hope, which will organize and fund similar missions in countries throughout the world. A third trip to the Philippines is planned for December 2013, and medical teams will bring healing to Latin America and impoverished areas of the U.S. in 2014.
“Operations for Hope is a very exciting venture that will reinforce our work with CES7 and while also increasing our global impact by formulating and sending more medical teams to help people around the world,” according to Dr. Michael Omidi, cofounder of No More Poverty.
During the mission trips to the Philippines, the medical team provided lifesaving surgical care to patients suffering from breast and thyroid cancers, performed hernias repairs, and provided reconstructive surgery for congenital facial deformities. The group was led by Lee K. Au, MD a board certified general surgeon and Michael Omidi, MD a double board certified plastic and general surgeon. Also joining the group: an anesthesia provider, surgical assistant, along with several registered nurses, technicians and other technical support.
Both medical missions were made possible with the generous donations of the Omidi family, Cindy Omidi and her sons Michael and Julian. Following great entrepreneurial success, the Omidi brothers have turned their attention to philanthropic pursuits, having cofounded three charities in addition to No More Poverty. The majority of the missions’ expenses — for medical equipment and supplies and shipping and travel expenses — were covered by the Omidi family.
